Start with Grant

Installers in England and Wales can get a fully funded Grant heat pump for their home along with product training, system design, as well as on-site setup and commissioning support.

What is Start With Grant?

Start with Grant provides newly trained and experienced plumbing and heating installers with a fully funded Grant Aerona air source heat pump to fit in their own home, backed with the support of Grant UK’s sales, training, design, and technical teams. The Scheme is designed to build installer confidence and experience so installers can offer air source heat pumps to their customers.

Why get involved?

Start with Grant is offered to installers in England and Wales through our partnership with MCS Umbrella company Heat Pump Go. There are many reasons why you should take the plunge and sign up to Start with Grant, including:

  • Building your product knowledge through training and experience
  • Accessing a fully funded Grant heat pump, cylinder, smart controller, volumiser, and associated heat pump installation kit
  • Testing a Grant heat pump in your own home
  • Improving the energy rating of your property
  • Offering Grant heat pumps with credibility and confidence to your customers
  • Getting ahead of the competition by offering low-carbon heating alternatives
  • Being eligible to join the G1 Scheme and access 7 year heat pump guarantee for your own home and future customer installations
  • Having future access to the BUS Scheme for your customers through Heat Pump Go without needing to be MCS approved yourself

Start with Grant is fully funded through the Government BUS grant which will be applied for and claimed through our umbrella partnership with Heat Pump Go.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for Start with Grant, your company must not already install, commission, or service Air Source Heat Pumps.

You will need to supply a valid EPC for your property to confirm there is an existing fossil fuel or direct electric heating system fitted.

You must also hold current certifications for the following:

  • Level 2/3 Plumbing & Heating Qualification or City & Guilds Qualification
  • WRAS Qualification and a G3 Unvented Hot Water Qualification (Grant UK’s Training Academy deliver ERS Qualifications – view ERS courses here)

Please note: Grant UK or Heat Pump Go may request copies of certificates. However, for the 'Start with Grant' scheme only, in the event that you do not have these qualifications, Grant UK can certify the installation at your property using our in house MCS approved commissioning engineers.

If you are not already a G1 installer, you will be sent an enrolment form for the G1 scheme following your Grant heat pump training. You will need to complete this to gain access to the 7-year heat pump guarantee for your installation, and any future installations for your customers.

Further information

Terms and Conditions apply (a copy will be made available upon application). It is important to note that installers cannot remove the heat pump or equipment supplied by Grant UK as part of the Start with Grant scheme to sell or re-install in another house. This will be a breach of the Terms and will result in the full BUS grant being recovered from the Installer.
