G-CERT MCS Certification Scheme

G-CERT is a scheme from Grant UK through which Grant can certify renewable installations for MCS accreditation on behalf of installers. To be eligible, installers have to become Sub-Contractors through G-CERT and then they can access all the benefits the Scheme has to offer.

What is G-CERT?

Engineers who meet the Scheme’s criteria (please see below) and become a G-CERT Sub-Contractor can install RHI eligible systems without needing to be MCS accredited. Through the G-CERT Scheme, Grant UK will do the following:

  • Act as the MCS accredited organisation
  • Assist with the heat loss calculation, heat pump/biomass boiler/solar system selection, DNO application (where applicable), and risk assessments
  • Carry out a site survey for each installation
  • Commission each system and sign off the installation on behalf of the installer
  • Supply the end-user Handover Folder
  • Complete all the necessary notifications including: registering each install on the MCS Database, registering the system for notification to building control, registering each install for the Workmanship Warranty Insurance and registering the products for their Grant guarantee.

(Please note, installers cannot proceed an installation through the G-CERT Scheme until they have had their Sub-Contractor status with Grant UK confirmed)

How do installers qualify for G-CERT?

Installers wishing to apply to become a G-CERT Sub-Contractor must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years relevant installation experience
  • Have relevant qualifications and provide appropriate evidence
  • Complete Grant product training for relevant technologies
  • Have a reputable trading history, adequate public liability insurance, and provide suitable business references
  • Comply with the Grant UK Sub-Contractors Agreement

What are the benefits?

After becoming a Sub-Contractor on G-CERT, engineers can access a range of benefits, from technical support through to administrative support. Listed below are some of the benefits:

  • Grant will produce the full customer Handover Folder
  • Grant UK will visit to commission and certify the system for MCS and assist the installer with the handover of the system to the end-user
  • Reduce the time and costs associated with MCS accreditation – less desk-based administration
  • Installer does not need to operate a MCS Quality System
  • Increase potential customer base by being able to serve customers wanting RHI payments
  • Access extended product guarantees
  • Build a closer working relationship with Grant, a market leading heating manufacturer
