This ERS course is aimed at experienced operatives who require a qualification in the installation, servicing and maintenance of domestic hot water systems. This course has been developed to ensure operatives comply with the requirements of Approved Document G when working on hot water systems. It includes the requirements for the installation of G3 Unvented Hot Water Systems up to 500 litres and 45kW power input in accordance.
The course includes training and assessment on regulations, standards and guidelines, the theory of understanding of expansion of hot water as well as the principles of hot water storage, design considerations, components and functions, safety controls, discharge and integration, installation of hot water systems, maintenance, unvented hot water systems, and health and safety considerations.
This qualification is recognised by those Competent Persons Scheme approved to offer a self-certification scheme, enabling installers to self-certify their hot water installations.
The certificate is awarded following successful completion of both a practical and written assessment.
Please note that this certificate expires five years from the date of assessment at which time the candidate can undertake re-assessment to renew the qualification.
Pre-requisites: It is essential that applicants have recognised qualifications and/or a minimum of 12 months experience from any of the following industry sectors: Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation, Gas, Refrigeration, Electrical.
A basic knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations is desirable but not essential.
