This LCL course is aimed at experienced plumbers and heating operatives who require a qualification in the installation, servicing and maintenance of domestic hot water systems. This course has been developed to ensure operatives comply with the requirements of Approved Document G when working on hot water systems. It includes the requirements for the installation of G3 Unvented Hot Water Systems up to 500 litres and 45kW power input in accordance.
The course includes training and assessment on regulations, standards and guidelines, the theory of understanding of expansion of hot water as well as the principles of hot water storage, design considerations, components and functions, safety controls, discharge and integration, installation of hot water systems, maintenance, unvented hot water systems, and health and safety considerations.
This qualification is recognised by those Competent Persons Scheme approved to offer a self-certification scheme, enabling installers to self-certify their hot water installations.
The certificate is awarded following successful completion of both a practical and written assessment.
Pre-requisites: candidates should be experienced in the installation of domestic cold and hot water systems. They should also hold a recognised competency in a conventional fuel (eg. gas, oil or solid fuel) or, for plumbers, an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent plumbing experience.
