The Grant Uflex and Uflex MINI Overlay System is an effective alternative to traditional wet screeded underfloor heating installations. Comprising of lightweight, robust flame retardant high-density polystyrene boards, the Uflex and Uflex MINI Overlay System is a dry system which makes installing underfloor heating very straightforward. The boards, which are available foiled, can be installed on an existing wooden or concrete floor surface, providing it is dry, flat, level and structurally stable, and is ideally suited to retrofit installation scenarios. With no need to pour a wet screed, the system is considerably quicker to install compared to traditional screeded systems.

- Uses polystyrene boards available in 16mm or 20mm thickness supplied in foiled options
- Foiled boards have a bonded layer of reflective 0.75micron aluminium foil on the upper surface which enhances the rapid transmission of heat across the floor and is an ideal alternative to systems using separate heat emission plates
- Compatible to install on top of most new and existing wooden or concrete floor surfaces which are dry, flat, level and structurally stable
- Low profile so overall floor height is only slightly increased
- The Uflex MINI Overlay System uses the 16mm thick boards suitable for 10mm pipe with 100mm centres and the Uflex Overlay System uses 20mm thick boards suitable for 16mm pipe with 150mm or 200mm centres
- Boards can be easily cut to suit the room dimensions and pipework layout
- Pre-formed grooves for the pipework are within the boards, making laying the pipe straightforward and accurate
- Reinforced cementitious layer makes the boards strong and impact resistant
- Quicker installation time as there is no need to wait several weeks for a wet screed to dry
Why is Grant’s Overlay Underfloor Heating System well suited to retrofit projects?
Grant’s Uflex and Uflex MINI Overlay System is a dry, non-screeded solution for installing underfloor heating systems on top of most existing wooden or concrete floor surfaces. This means that an underfloor heating system can be installed in a property without having to dig up existing flooring. Furthermore, once the boards and pipework have been installed, the new floor surface can then be fitted directly on top. To provide a smooth flat surface for some floor coverings such as carpet, Kardean or Amtico, 6mm ply should be laid directly on top of the Overlay boards first.
The installation time is quicker than that of traditional screeded systems not only because it is a dry system but also as a result of the pre-formed grooves which make fitting the pipework simple while ensuring the correct spacing as well.
