Yes, you need to have your Grant hot water cylinder serviced on an annual basis and the Benchmark book (supplied with your cylinder) should be filled out as evidence that the service has been completed. Your cylinder should be serviced by a competent person in accordance with the installation and servicing instructions. If your original installing engineer is unable to service your cylinder, you can either find an alternative service engineer via our online search or you can contact the Grant UK ServicePlan Team.
Secondary hot water returns are generally used in domestic hot water applications where the point of usage (e.g. taps) is a distance away from the hot water cylinder. Known as secondary circulation, it is used to remove the need to draw off a large quantity of cool water left in the pipe run before hot water reaches the tap.
Yes. When you first fill a basin or bath with hot water, it may sometimes appear a milky in colour which will be caused by a very tiny air bubbles in the water – these will clear very quickly to leave you with your clear water.
The dual thermostat fitted to a QR hot water cylinder should be set to between 50˚C and 55˚C when installed with a Grant Aerona³ air source heat pump.
The temperature of the water stored inside your cylinder should be between 50°C and 60°C depending on the model of cylinder you have and the heat source it is connected to, for example an air source heat pump.
This will depend on the size of the cylinder, the size of the coil inside and the heat source it is connected to. Larger cylinders, with higher water content, will take longer to heat up compared to smaller cylinders. Cylinders which are connected to a high temperature system, such as an oil boiler, will often heat up quicker than those connected to a low temperature system, such as a heat pump. However, all systems should be correctly designed and specified to ensure that the heat source is able to effectively meet the hot water demand of the property.
The temperature of your hot water cylinder would have been set by your heating engineer when the cylinder was installed and it should not be necessary for you to adjust this temperature. If, however, you need to adjust your hot water cylinder’s temperature upon the advice of your engineer, you can do this via the cylinder’s thermostat. With Grant QR cylinders, you will find the cylinder dual thermostat mounted onto the cylinder itself. Before making any temperature adjustments to your cylinder, please consult the product’s manual and speak to your engineer.
