Heat Pump Sizing All Figured Out

With the increasing demand for Air Source Heat Pumps, the importance in sizing the correct product for installation has become a necessity.

To help with this process Grant UK are pleased to announce the launch of two new design tools that can make both installers and merchants lives easier.

The first basic calculator, known as the ‘Grant Quick Step Selector’ can provide a guide to the nearest Aerona, Air Source Heat Pump model suited for a particular property, simply by inputting basic information, an is ideally suited to merchants as a product selector. The calculator will suggest the heat pump size required, allowing installers/merchants to provide their customers with a prompt quotation.

The second more advanced system, aimed at installers, is known as the ‘Grant Heat Loss Calculator’. This is used for a more thorough analysis of the property’s needs, eliminating potential errors at quotation stage. A room by room calculation is carried out (compliant with MIS 3005) before detailed information on heat pump sizing is shown. There are also diagrams available to assist with the dual compressors and back-up heater settings.

To benefit from these useful tools an installer would first need to attend the Grant G-One Aerona Air Source Heat Pump course allowing them to become a Grant Accredited Heat Pump Installer.

Training includes the sizing and selection of the correct unit(s) to suit the property concerned, the installation considerations and requirements, and the commissioning of the completed system.

The programme features a written assessment and the successful completion of which will qualify the installer to become Grant Accredited.
