Two Aerona³ R32 air source heat pumps have recently been installed in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, replacing a couple of Grant’s first generation of air source heat pumps which were installed over a decade ago. From one generation of Grant heat pumps to another, this property continues to be kept warm by trusted Aerona³ air source heat pumps.
When a large home in Harrogate was built over a decade ago, an eco-friendly ethos was at the heart of the build and efficiency was in the mind of the property’s owners. A renewable heating system was chosen which included the installation of two Grant first generation air-to-water heat pumps, alongside a Grant Solar PV system and Grant Solar Thermal system. In the Autumn of 2020, the heat pump units were replaced and the decision about which models to install was an easy one for the homeowner.
“Replacing the older Aerona heat pump units with Grant’s latest Aerona³ models was a clear choice for the owner,” writes Jamie Vickers, one of the owners of LPS Renewables Ltd who completed the installation. “We installed the Aerona³ R32 heat pumps because this is what the customer requested. They had been in touch with Grant UK initially and that is how they found our company, and LPS Renewables Ltd were recommended to carry out the installation of the replacement units, to test and commission them and complete a handover with the customer.”
For this installation, two 13kW Aerona³ R32 heat pumps were installed. These twin fan units are exceptionally efficient achieving a SCOP of 5.41, an A+++ ErP rating and using the more environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant. Furthermore, the 13kW model has also been awarded the Quiet Mark in recognition of its quiet and high performing operation.
“The install was very straightforward,” continues Jamie. “It took us just a couple of hours to remove the original units and install the new ones and the controllers. It is always a pleasure installing Grant products and these two heat pumps were no exception.

The new air source heat pumps in Harrogate are working alongside the Solar Thermal system and the original Grant heat pump cylinder. The property has underfloor heating running throughout which complements the heat pump and aids its efficient operation. There is also a rainwater collection system installed at the property so this home is aiming to be as eco-friendly as possible, minimising the waste of energy and other resources in any way it can.
When this property was first built, low carbon products and systems were selected and installed. Today, as part of its eco-renovation, the property has upgraded some of its green technologies so that the home is even more efficient, further reducing its impact on the local and wider environment. Central to its original development and to the subsequent eco-renovation has been a pair of Grant heat pumps with one generation making way for another - by trusting in Grant heat pumps, this home’s heating system has been and will continue to be sustainably run.
