Grant UK donate interactive smart screen to local school

A primary school in Wiltshire has benefitted from the addition of an interactive smart screen which has been donated by Grant UK. The smart screen has been welcomed by both the teachers and pupils, supporting the delivery of engaging learning as well as supporting the school’s wider computing programmes.

After moving premises from Devizes to their new headquarters in Swindon in 2022, Grant UK had some IT equipment which was no longer required. The equipment included a 75” smart interactive touchscreen display which the Company wanted to be repurposed and given a new lease of life. Queen’s Crescent Primary School in Chippenham, Wiltshire, became the lucky recipient of the screen which was installed at the school’s premises in May.

Queen’s Crescent School has over 400 pupils and have recently extended their premises with the development of a new mezzanine level. This new area is now a library for the schoolchildren and well as being a dedicated space for teachers to work with small groups of pupils. The smart screen which Grant UK has donated has been installed within the new part of the school where it is enhancing the learning for pupils with its interactive features and functionality.

Queen’s Crescent School has recently been accepted as a Microsoft Showcase School so the addition of the smart screen will greatly help the rollout of this initiative. As one of only 600 schools selected worldwide as a Microsoft Showcase School, Queen’s Crescent is part of a transformation programme to create student focused, immersive and inclusive learning experiences. The screen will therefore support the use of computing and encourage innovation amongst the pupils.

“We had already worked with Queen’s Crescent Primary School as part of our Kick the Carbon grassroots programme with Bath Rugby Club last year so it was lovely to support them again with this donation of IT equipment,” comments Helen Selman, Head of Facilities, IT and Transformation at Grant UK. “When we moved from our premises in Devizes, not all the IT equipment was installed at the new headquarters so for this smart screen to have a new home at this local school is something we are proud to have supported. It will not only help the school as a Microsoft Showcase School but it will hopefully make lessons for the pupils stimulating and interactive.”

“The smart screen has been a fantastic addition to the Mezzanine floor extension at Queen's Crescent,” writes James Essam, Headteacher at Queen’s Crescent. “It is used daily by staff and children alike to assist with intervention work and learning. The interactive features provide an engaging way for children to participate in lessons, and the staff have found it to be an invaluable tool for enhancing their teaching methods. Specifically, it has supported interventions like Minecraft future-ready skills sessions and SATs preparation for Year 6. We are incredibly grateful for the donation from Grant UK, which has also enhanced the super-computing provision at Queen's Crescent School.”
