Scottish Government announce further boiler scrappage funding
  |

With the injection of a further £1 million funding for the Boiler Scrappage Scheme in Scotland, replacing an older inefficient boiler and installing renewable technologies is now looking far more attractive.

The Scottish Boiler Scrappage Scheme extends the successful incentive launched in May 2010. Owners and occupiers in Scotland are eligible for a £400 rebate to either upgrade inefficient boilers with an Energy Saving Trust Recommended (ESTR) boiler or installing a Microgeneration Certification Scheme accredited microgeneration technology.

There are currently an estimated 250 000 homes in Scotland that have boilers of the least efficient type (efficiency of less than 70%). Coupled with the growing awareness that we all need to do more to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, this rebate is an effective way of reducing household energy bills and CO2 emissions.

To be eligible for the £400 rebate, you must be the owner/occupier of a domestic property in Scotland replacing a working boiler with a SAP2005 efficiency rating of less than 70% or by installing a MCS accredited technology such as a Grant Aerona Air Source Heat Pump. Secondly, you must receive a written or verbal quote for the installation before applying to Home Energy Scotland for the rebate voucher.

The installation must be completed by the 25th March 2011.

To find out if your system is eligible or if you require any further information, please contact the Home Energy Scotland Hotline on 0800 512012.
