Grant UK has recently welcomed three new members of staff. Mike Pryde has joined the Company as an Area Sales Manager covering Northern England and Southern Scotland. Meanwhile, two Trainees have started working at Grant UK’s HQ in Devizes for work experience, gaining a broad understanding of the Company and its day to day activities.
In June, Mike Pryde joined Grant UK’s External Sales Team as Area Sales Manager for the north of England and south of Scotland. From Cumbria up to Argyll and Bute, Mike will be providing sales support on all of Grant’s heating products for engineers and merchants. Mike will be working closely with the G1 installers in his area as well being the principal point of contact for heating engineers and merchants for all things Grant.
Mike has over twenty years experience in the heating industry, starting his career in the Navy where he trained. After his time in the Navy, Mike then spent eight years as a service engineer before moving into the manufacturing sector of the industry. Consequently, Mike has built up extensive experience on oil and renewable products from his work in the field as well as in sales.
Specialising in the Vortex and VortexBlue oil boilers, Mike will also be assisting customers working with Grant’s renewable products, including the Aerona³ air source heat pumps. “The Grant brand is well known for its high quality, reliable heating products so I am looking forward to working with this market leading Company,” comments Mike. “Having worked in the field as an engineer and spent several years on the road in sales, I understand the support that both installers and merchants need from a manufacturer. It is a very exciting time to join Grant UK, with so much growth and expansion in the Company, and I am looking forward to getting out on the road, hosting Breakfast Mornings and events at local merchants, and meeting with and getting to know the installers and engineers in my area.”
Back at its HQ in Devizes, Grant UK has also welcomed two new members of staff to its offices. Charles Gillman-Couch and Emily Ryan have both joined the Company as part of a new trainee initiative programme that Grant UK launched in the Spring. Earlier in the year, Grant UK interviewed a number of students and graduates for two trainee positions with the successful candidates having the opportunity to gain experience in all departments and developing a broad, well grounded understanding of the Company.
At the end of May, Charles and Emily started at Grant UK and will be rotating between all departments to gain an understanding of all aspects of the business, from training through to sales, technical, marketing, accounts and purchasing. Charles is a recent graduate of Civil Engineering from Swansea University and has previously worked in design and product building roles. “I am very excited to observe how my future with Grant UK develops and I am particularly looking forward to learning about the technical side of things,” writes Charles. “I am also deeply interested in renewable technologies and feel fortunate to be part of a team pioneering the way for the heating industry in this area.”
Meanwhile, since completing her A-levels in Business Studies, Religious Studies and English Literature, Emily has gained experience in the retail and public sectors. “While looking for ways to progress my professional life,” says Emily, “I was offered an interview at Grant UK and, to my delight, offered a position here – it was an opportunity I could not miss. The heating industry is completely new to me so I am excited to experience working in all departments before settling into a role that compliments and enhances my skills and knowledge.”
“At Grant UK, we endeavour to provide continuous personal development for our employees, helping them to progress with their careers,” writes Paul Wakefield, Managing Director at Grant UK. “This new trainee initiative has been designed to provide grassroots support for two young people starting out in their careers. It hoped that both Charles and Emily will gain an insight into all of the daily activities here at Grant before choosing the right path for them within the Company.”
