Grant UK supports charity ball for Motor Neurone Disease

In April, a fundraising ball is being hosted in Devizes which is raising funds to support the work of a local cause, the Motor Neurone Disease Association for North Wiltshire. The evening is being organised by Julian Taylor who is the branch manager at Plumb Center in Frome and Grant UK is pleased to support the event by donating a prize for the night’s raffle.

The charity ball, which is taking place on 22nd April 2016, is being organised by Julian and his family who have recently been affected by Motor Neurone Disease, a condition which affects the nervous system. In October last year, Julian’s father passed away after being diagnosed with MND in November 2013. Unfortunately there is currently no cure for this condition so relief care is required for sufferers. Julian’s father was helped greatly by the MND North Wiltshire Charity who arranged for the equipment and a respiratory nurse to help him through his illness, assistance which Julian says “without doubt extended his life beyond the average survival rate for the disease which is around twelve months”.

The nurse who assisted Julian’s father was paid for by the MND Charity rather than local authorities. Consequently, this charity is constantly fundraising to provide the due care for MND patients throughout the North Wiltshire area who the NHS is unable to resource. Julian writes, “the Charity does tremendous work through such a cruel condition.”

One of the fundraising activities on the night will be a raffle, for which Grant UK have donated a golf voucher to be redeemed at Bowood Championship Golf Club in Wiltshire. Hopefully the charity ball taking place at the end of next month will be a successful event, raising money for this very deserving cause.
