Grant Training Academy gets a makeover

Grant UK’s Training Academy has recently undergone a dramatic redevelopment programme. The renovation of the centre, which originally opened in 2003, has seen the lecture rooms transform into engaging learning environments, allowing customers to get the most out of their training.

Grant offers installers a wide range of courses from those on specific products, through to OFTEC training and assessment, and QCF qualifications. With new product developments and changes in industry legislation, Grant courses are regularly reviewed and revised, ensuring they stay current, so it stands to reason that the facilities should also be up to date.

During August, the training rooms were stripped down to become blank canvases upon which new product displays and informative graphics were installed. All of the rooms now clearly showcase the Grant product range, supporting and enhancing the training workshops held at the Academy.

Grant Training Academy Boiler display 2015 LR1Lecture Room 1, which is predominantly used for oil boiler courses is now home to a mixture of permanent and moveable displays of the Vortex oil range, alongside an impressive EZ-Fit flue display. Each of the product displays have been complimented with background graphics giving an ‘in-situ’ look and feel.

The external Vortex boilers have been placed on moveable plinths allowing for greater flexibility. Accompanying each display are magnetic information panels containing useful product features.

Grant Training Academy Flue display 2015 LR1The flue display incorporates all Grant EZ-Fit systems, including low level, high level and vertical balanced, and conventional arrangements. Having all the flues assembled and available to see in one place will greatly improve training. Installers can clearly view each system and understand how and where they should be used.

Lecture Room 2 is reserved primarily for renewable technologies, and as such, is now home to both a Spira and Vecta condensing biomass boiler display. Showcasing these award winning products will greatly assist Grant biomass courses. Previously, the display boilers were located in a separate area within the centre, so this new layout will allow engineers to interact with the products without having to leave the room.

In addition, a selection of cutaway Grant Wave cylinders and thermal stores are also on display, showing the internal and external workings of these unique products. Grant Solar Thermal is also showcased alongside a comprehensive energy management control system layout, demonstrating how several Grant renewable technologies can easily be combined.

Grant Training Academy 2015 PR1The final area to be renovated was the Practical Training and Assessment room. Here, the effects of the in-situ graphics can be fully appreciated. New wall visuals have been fitted with a sky image surrounding the full sized solar thermal training roof, and a house and garden backdrop complements the Aerona air source heat pumps and Grant wood pellet stores. By surrounding these products with graphics that reflect their typical installed location, engineers will be able to complete their assessments in environments which simulate real life installations.

The Grant Training Academy is already an award winning facility, announced as OFTEC Training Centre of the Year for four years in a row and winning additional regional and national accolades which recognise the technical expertise offered by the training staff, as well as acknowledging the professional facilities.

Whether installers want to learn more about Grant products or are attending OFTEC, Logic or QCF courses to ensure that their work meets industry standards, the Academy offers a first class setting in which engineers can only further improve their knowledge and skills.
