Stock Control Assistant

A vacancy has arisen within the Stock Control Department for an additional assistant to help with the control and maintenance of our stock levels, costs, and stock movement processes. The role will be worked over a 39.5 hour week and will concentrate on the following areas:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Forecast levels of demand for assigned product group and keep a constant check on stock levels.
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Liaise with suppliers / manufacturers and the relevant internal departments with information on the timing of the supply of stock, placing orders where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers ensuring suppliers are aware of Grant UK business objectives.
  • Work with Accounts to ensure the processing of supplier invoices is timely and accurate.
  • Keep supplier/transport contract files up to date and use them as reference for the future.
  • Work closely with the warehouse ensuring regular stock takes are being carried out.
  • Work with the warehouse to ensure that Grant UK quality objectives are met.
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks and duties.


  • Previous experience of working in a Purchasing/Stock Control Department
  • Have a working knowledge and ability to use Sage or a similar package plus Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience with computerised systems with respect to barcode scanning.
  • Good communication and negotiating skills.
  • Close attention to detail is essential.
